Overview

Making your holiday that little bit better.

The Challenge

Secret Detours wanted a digital home that did more than list holidays. They needed a way for travellers to find local excursions that felt personal, bookable and worth seeking out, rather than another generic tour catalogue.

The experience had to sell the destination in a single glance. Photography, atmosphere and a sense of place were as important as the booking form. At the same time, guests still had to choose dates, group size and times without the page collapsing into a spreadsheet.

Search and availability sit at the centre of a business like this. If those tools feel clumsy, people bounce. If they feel hidden, the beautiful photography never converts. Secret Detours needed both: a premium first impression and a practical path from “that looks amazing” to “we’re booked”.

The site also had to work as a marketing surface as well as a booking tool, with space for news, stories and a clear picture of who they are, so returning visitors had a reason to come back beyond a single trip.

Our Solution

We built a visually rich website that leads with destination photography and a simple invitation to find local excursions. The hero, navigation and booking bar are designed so the search is always within reach without covering the image that is doing the selling.

Guests can search by number of people, date and time, then move into the catalogue of excursions. The flow is short on purpose: enough information to decide, not so much that the trip starts to feel like admin.

Behind the imagery is a structured site for Home, Excursions, About, News and Contact, so Secret Detours can keep the story of the brand alive between bookings. Search and content sit together rather than fighting for attention.

The result is a booking experience that feels like the start of a holiday rather than the end of a form. It is built to make finding a local detour easy, and to make that detour look like something you would actually want to take.
