DHL approached us with a clear and pressing challenge: each day, teams across the organisation would begin with a stand-up meeting supported by printed reports containing key facts, figures, and performance indicators. These daily data packs were essential for helping employees understand current operations and identify areas for improvement. However, the process of printing these documents was both time-consuming and unwieldy.
It wasn’t uncommon for each person to receive a bundle of 30–40 sheets per day, creating an enormous strain in terms of paper usage and printing costs. Beyond the environmental and financial concerns, the sheer volume of information made it difficult to focus on the most relevant insights, leading to inefficiencies in communication and decision-making. DHL recognised the need to modernise this aspect of their workflow to reduce waste and improve the clarity and impact of their internal reporting.
To address DHL’s need for a more efficient and environmentally conscious solution, we developed a digital product that eliminated the dependency on printed sheets. The new system was designed to work seamlessly with existing hardware, using large display screens to present critical information clearly and concisely. This visual approach made daily stand-ups more impactful, as teams could quickly absorb the most important data without sorting through stacks of paper.
Central to the system was a tablet-based control interface that allowed team leaders to manage what appeared on the display in real time. Whether selecting from a range of data sources, switching between visual formats, or presenting supporting images, the entire experience was streamlined and intuitive. This ensured that each stand-up was not only more engaging, but also more tailored to the team's specific needs on any given day.
We developed companion apps for both Android and iOS platforms to extend accessibility and give managers the flexibility to control displays directly from their phones or iPads. These apps were designed with usability in mind, ensuring that even those with minimal technical experience could operate them effectively. The flexibility and simplicity of the system helped teams become more agile and aligned in their day-to-day operations.
Given the sensitivity of the data being shared, we implemented a security system comparable to that used in the banking industry. This ensured that only authorised users could access or modify the content being displayed, safeguarding both company information and individual privacy. As a result, DHL gained a modern, scalable tool that improved communication, cut costs, and significantly reduced their environmental footprint.
The successful delivery of this digital solution marked a major step forward for DHL in improving both operational efficiency and sustainability. By replacing wasteful printed materials with a secure, dynamic display system, teams could access and understand critical data faster and more effectively. The introduction of mobile control and real-time configuration empowered managers to adapt content instantly, ensuring every stand-up remained relevant and impactful.
Ultimately, this transformation not only enhanced team communication and productivity, but also aligned with DHL’s broader goals around innovation and environmental responsibility—proving that smart technology can solve real-world challenges at scale.
